Yo

Welcome to Begrimed. That's this site. That's also me. I've got about... 116 unique visits so far. Nice.

No need for long-winded introductions or anything - so let's get to it. You know what a homepage is, right? Cool. This is mine. A place to post whatever I create so that all the world can ignore it. If you're a friend of mine, I'm not opposed to sticking something of yours up my ass here so that it too can be ignored. This mainly applies to music. Y'see, I'm a musician of sorts, just trying to make my way up the ladder like anybody else in my position would probably be doing. Only, I'd rather go about it in a way that doesn't involve sending "friend requests" to every person that I can set eyes on.

Recently, a few of my long-time internet buddies and I hatched the idea to band together and try to create songs as a loose collective. We don't have anything to show for it yet, but the outlook is promising. In the meantime, scope out some of the tracks that I've created over the years, and whatever else I decide to throw on here.

Back to basics, anyone? I finally discarded the old graphics-heavy site design in favor of a new one that only makes use of the bare essentials. HTML, CSS, some tables, and a dash of PHP to keep things managable. Eat your heart out, you fancy Photoshop Flash designers. This is how things were done in the olden days - sites that actually worked on all browsers, loaded quickly, and didn't require plug-ins and updates to view correctly. A perfect way to kick off the new year, even if it's three months late. It's time I started doing more with this thing instead of giving it the occasional pitiful update after months of unannounced hiatus. Expect the 'prose' section to actually have more stuff in it, and the 'other' page to be more than some IM quotes and outgoing links. You're thrilled, I know.

Going a little more into detail about the musical collective mentioned above. We're not an actual band, as it's unlikely that every one of us will all contribute to every song that we make. In fact, none of us even live in the same state as another, so collaborations will be handled online. This is more convenient, because nobody will have to devote themselves to it, and contributions can be made at their leisure. We will still operate under a group name (which has yet to be determined). If you're familiar Gescom, then you'll get the idea. This removes the obligation to credit everyone individually in each song ID. So far, these are the people who have agreed to play their part when the time comes.

Begrimed: This is me. Yup. I'll be doing anything from arranging beats, composing, writing lyrics, and rapping. Yes, I said rapping.
Wayward: I've known this cat for probably four years now. A talented rapper, beat maker and composer, who also writes his own rhymes and song lyrics.
Hawkesy: Plays in a band as the bassist, and is very, very good at what he does. Naturally, he'll be our main supplier of catchy basslines.
Masked Felix: Has only recently taken the dive into composing music digitally, but damn, this guy's melodies are top-notch, and will add a nice variety.
Muse: Awwwww yeah, you know we wouldn't be complete without a good female vocalist. Expect her voice to shine brightly once we get on a roll.
Digital Mantra: This dude's attention to detail is insane, and he is an absolute beast at refining sound quality, beat chopping, effects, and generally all things post-production. He will most likely be our go-to when it comes to mastering a finished song, and is a very prolific musician in his own right. Check out his albums if you want a taste of something very different and very awesome. All of the album downloads are free, and there are no ads or pop-ups.

Stay tuned. Here are some samples of recent projects. These will most likely be full songs in the future, vocals and all.

Begrimed (all): "Bleed"
Begrimed (all): "Lust"
Hawkesy (bassline), Begrimed (everything else): "Introduction"
Masked Felix (instrumentation), Begrimed (beats/percussion): "Just Rest"
